Biography
William Powell Flight was born in 1823, the son of William and Rachel Flight (nee White).[1]
He was baptised on 3 December 1826 in Spa Fields, London, England. The baptism register records that he was born 'on the passage to England by the [unclear] on the RIver Ohio State of Kentucky North America'. A sister (Mary) who was baptised the same day is recorded as having been born in Cincinnati. [2]
A further baptism was performed on 16 July 1837 in St Martin-In-The-Fields, London, Westminster, England. He was 13 years old with the baptism register giving his date of birth as 8 Nov 1823. The baptism register also states that his father was a coach maker. [3]
He married Ellen Mary Ann Robinson on 21 November 1842 at St. Paul's Church in London, England.[4] Their children were:[5]

William Powell Flight baptism on 16 Jul 1837 (born 8 Nov 1823), child of William & Rachel, in St Martin-In-The-Fields, London, Westminster, England.
There died at his late residence, St. Just Point, Long Gulley, on Saturday, Mr. William Powell Flight, at the ripe age of 81 years. The deceased gentleman was a colonist of 50 years standing. He has resided at St. Just Point for the past 12 years. Previous to coming here he was engaged in farming in the Inglewood district. He was the father of a large family, the members of whom are Mr. W. Flight, foreman of the Waranga Shire Basin, Mr. G. R. Flight, ganger, Mr. J. Flight, engineer, Mr. C. Flight, of the Victorian Railways, Mr. T. N. Flight, contractor, for the Waranga Shire Basin, Mr. E. Flight, grazier, of Swan Hill, Mrs. Moffat , widow of the late Mr. R. Moffat, engineer, of this city, and Mrs. Blackburn of Pyramid Hill. Deceased was much respected by a wide circle of friends.
The funeral will take place to-day at 4 o'clock to the Bendigo Cemetery.
