Biography

R.C. Fletcher was born in 1901 in Arab, Alabama. By the age of 4, he had become deaf. He graduated from the Alabama School for the Deaf and went on to Gallaudet University, and finally graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Divinity from the Philadelphia Episcopal Seminary. He became an Episcopalian Minister and strove to improve conditions for those who were also deaf.

He married Estelle Caldwell and had a number of children including Dr. John C. Fletcher, Roberta (Fletcher) Ray, Georgianna Fletcher, and Louise Fletcher.

He died March 3, 1988 in Alexandria Hospital in Virginia after a heart attack.
