Margaret Fleming was born c. 1528, daughter to Malcolm Fleming, 3rd Lord Fleming and his wife Janet Stewart, natural daughter of King James IV. by Isabel Stewart, Countess of Bothwell, daughter of James, third Earl of Buchan.[1]
She married firstly, Robert Graham, Master of Graham, who was killed at the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh on 10 Sep 1547[1] along with her father and a brother in law. This marriage likely occurred c. 1545.
She married, secondly (contract 30 Jan 1549), Thomas Erskine, Master of Erskine, without issue.[1] She had a charter in her viduity (widowhood) in liferent from John Cunningham of Drumquhassell on 1 March 1549 in implement of her marriage-contract with Thomas, Master of Erskine.
She married, thirdly, (contract 1 Apr 1557), to John Stewart, 4th Lord of Atholl Lord Chancellor.[2][3] They had a charter of the lands of Inglassey. They had issue:
She is said to have possessed powers of incantation, and at the birth of James VI. cast the pains of labour from the Queen on the Lady Hires.
She was dead before 15 Mar 1587.
