Biography

Hannah/Annie Fitzgibbon (married name Lillis) was born in 1836 in County Cork, Ireland, the daughter of Ellen (Callaghan) Fitzgibbon and John Fitzgibbon.^[1]

She migrated to Australia, arriving on the ship 'Bee' in Port Jackson, Sydney, New South Wales on 6 January 1856.^[1]

She married Peter Lillis in 1865 in Goulburn, New South Wales.^[2] They had six children before Peter's death in November 1875.^[3]

Hannah died in May 1910 in Goulburn. Her remains were buried at Goulburn Old Cemetery.^[1]

   ...Even among such gay and festive scenes death is in our midst. A man named Peter Lillis died on the 16th instant, leaving a wife and six children to deplore their less. The family are left without any means of support, except what assistance the deceased's brother Lillis can give. A subscription is now being made, and some money has already been collected. I hope the good people of Taralga and its neighbourhood will show the same liberality on the present occasion as they have done on former ones. Mrs. P.
