Biography

Birth

Ransom Norton Fisher was born at Livermore, Maine, on 22 Feb 1826, the son of Grinfill Fisher and Mary Ann (Filoon) Fisher,[1] with whom he was living at Livermore in 1850 at the age of 24, when he was described as a shoemaker.[2]

Marriages

  1. Ransom N. Fisher, 26, stone cutter, of Danvers, Massachusetts, married Sarah E. Meeder, 21, of Andover, Massachusetts, at Andover on 1 Sep 1852.[3]
  2. Ransom Norton Fisher married as his second wife Esther Crie, the divorced former wife of Josiah Brown, at Fairfield, Maine, on 31 Dec 1874.[4] See the Research Notes on Esther's profile.

Children

Ransom and Sarah (Meeder) Fisher had four children, listed in the 1928 history of Livermore, Maine,[5] and shown living with them at Livermore in the 1870 Census:[6]

  2. James G. Fisher, born in 1862, 8 in the 1870 Census
  3. Frances L. Fisher, born in 1867, 3 in the 1870 Census
  4. George R. Fisher, born in 1869, 1 in the 1870 Census
Ransom and Esther (Crie) Fisher had no known children.

Later Life

Ransom N. Fisher's second wife died in 1891. In 1900, he was living at Livermore at the age of 74 with a servant, the widow Charlotte C. Witham, 68.[7] In 1910 they were still living together at Livermore at the ages of 84 and 77.[8]

Death

The gravestone of Ransom Norton Fisher at the Lakeside Cemetery in Livermore, Maine, is inscribed with the dates 22 Feb 1826 and 21 Feb 1918.[9]
