Biography

Kathryn (Finch) Boyd is a part of US Black heritage.

Kathryn Finch was born on November 4, 1890. She was the adopted daughter of Harry Temple Risher. They lived in Jackson Ward 3, Hinds, Mississippi.^[1][2]

Kathryn served as one of the Golden Fourteen, a group of Black women who were the first to serve as Yeomen in the United States Navy.

In 1920, Catherine lodged with Harry and John Risher at 1326 Riggs St NW in the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C.^[3] Later that year on June 25, 1920, she married Brown Morrell Boyd.^[4] They lived in Washington, D.C.^[5]

She passed away on August 24, 1934.^[6] She was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.^[7]
