English actor known for his portrayal of the adult 'Lord Voldemort' in the Harry Potter series of films
Ralph was born in 1962. He is the son of Mark Fiennes and Jennifer Lash.
Ralph's birth was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1963 in the IPSWICH district.[1] His father was Mark Fiennes, a farmer and photographer, and Jennifer Lash, a writer. He is descended from Sir Maurice Fiennes, an industrialist working with British steel, and Henry Alleyne Lash, British Indian Army officer. Ralph is the eldest of six children.
He has become known worldwide for portraying the evil 'Lord Voldemort' in the Harry Potter series of films (however, 'Lord Voldemort' was played by another actor in the first film in the series). His nephew, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, played the eleven-year-old 'Tom Riddle', whose conversation with 'Professor Slughorn' (Jim Broadbent) shapes Harry's quest. Fiennes has described playing Voldemort as an "instinctive, visceral, physical thing". [2] Fans of the films will know 'Lord Voldemort's' appearance, with nose pressed back and forked tongue to appear like a snake; Fiennes did not wear makeup for this, but this was digitally manipulated instead.
