CHAWORTH GUNDRED Wife of Payn II Chaworth, daughter of William la Ferte and Margaret Brewer

[CFR HIII] .9 March 1233 Kempton. Demands to be placed in respite. Order to the sheriff of Devon to place in respite, until 15 days after Easter in the seventeenth year, the demand he makes from Payn de Chaworth by summons of the Exchequer for William de la Ferté, whose daughter and heiress Payn has to wife, having accepted security from him that he will then satisfy the king for the aforesaid demand at the Exchequer.

[CFR HIII] 4 February 1237 Kempton. Hampshire. Order to the sheriff of Hampshire to cause Payn de Chaworth to have full seisin of all lands formerly of Margaret de la Ferté in his bailiwick on the day she died, so that he answers for the issues of the same lands at the Exchequer until he will make fine with the king for having the aforesaid lands. Wiltshire. Order, in the same manner, to the sheriff of Wiltshire concerning lands in his bailiwick.

[CFR HIII] 1 April 1237 Kempton. Payn de Chaworth has made fine with the king by 200 m. for having custody of the land and heir of Margaret de la Ferté. Order to the sheriff of Hampshire to cause him to have full seisin of the land formerly of the same Margaret, one of the heirs of William Brewer, falling to her from the inheritance of the aforesaid William.
