John was born in 1840. John married Harriet L. Lloyd on 30 Aug 1862 in Cuyahoga, Ohio. John enlisted in Company E of the 103rd OVI on 15 Aug 1862 as a Sergeant. He mustered out on 14 Sep 1863 in Cleveland, Ohio on a Surgeon's certificate of disability as a Private. After returning home from the war, John was a Carpenter and then a Farmer in Willoughby. John moved his family to Madison, Ohio by 1900, where he continued farming. He passed away in 1911.
