Biography

Ira was born in 1897 in Kentucky. His parents are Harrison Clay Felty and Leora E Felty. He passed away in 1928. The family story is that he was hit by a car. He died a few weeks before the birth of his son, Ira Odell Felty.

In 1900, Ira, lived with his parents and five siblings in Magisterial District 5, Butler, Kentucky, United States. His father owned his farm without mortgage. His mother cared for the home and children. The two oldest attended school. The four youngest included 5 y.o. twins, Earl and Adah; 3 y.o. Ira, and 1 y.o. Golda.^[1]

In 1910, Ira, age 13. lived with his parents and four siblings. His siblings included 15 y.o twins, Earl and Adah; Goldie, age 10, and Mabel, age 9. The family lived on the farm which his father worked and owned without mortgage. His mother cared for the family. She had had 8 pregnancies and now had seven living children. ^[2]

Marriage and Family

In 1920, Ira G., age 21, and his wife Alma, age 19, lived as boarders in Akron, Summit, Ohio. Ira was working as a laborer in a rubber shop. They had a 2 y.o. son, Raymond H. a.k.a. Harrison Ray (born in Indiana, Nov. 1917) in their family.^[3]

Death and Burial

Ira Felty died in Akron, Ohio on 26 October 1928. He died of a traumatic skull fracture incurred about 4 a.m. His occupation was 'rubber worker' for Good Year. He was married to Gertrude Coots^[4] He is buried in Scott Cemetery, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, USA. ^[5]
