Biography

Mary was born in 1635. She was the daughter of George Farr and Elizabeth Stowers. She passed away in 1717.

Mary Farr would have been born about 1624, if we base her age on the oldest Farnsworth child. However, it appears both Mathias and Mary were previously married. Some have claimed she was born Jan 1623/24 in Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts. But a more likely date of birth is 1637: "Mary (Farr), b. say 1637; m. (1) Braintree 11 December 1657 James Mycall [BrVr 716]; m. (2) Matthias Farnsworth of Groton."[1] (Based on this chronology, Mary could not have been the mother of all the children of Matthias Farnsworth).

Mary died 7 January 1717.[2] She is buried in the Old Burying Ground, Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.[3]

Disputed Relations

In Great Migration Begins, Charles Anderson claimed that the Mary Farr, daughter of George Farr, married first James Mycall, then second Matthias Farnsworth. [7]

However, more recent research has pointed out that George Farr's daughter Mary was having children by Matthias Farnsworth during the same period of time that Mary Farr was having children with James Mycall, then Joseph Niles, in another town, so therefore they could not be the same woman.[8] This more recent article points out that the parents and origins of Mary Farr who m2 James Mycall, then second Joseph Niles, remains unknown.

Therefore, James Mycall (and his children) are being detached as spouse and children from this profile.

This profile needs a lot of cleanup and merges of siblings and children. Lots of duplication.
