Biography

John Fabyan was born to John and Sarah (Hall) Fabian.

According to one source, John Fabyian was born in England in 1681, and came to America with his family early in life, where they lived in Newington, New Hampshire.[1]. However, another source lists his birth as occurring in New Hampshire, where his parents John and Sarah (Hall) were married.[2]

He and three of his siblings were baptized in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, in the North Church, March 26, 1693.[3].

John was a tailor and justice of the peace for many years.[1].

John married Mary Pickering December 25, 1702,[2] near Dover, New Hampshire, married by Reverend John Pike.[4] John and Mary had seven children:[3]

  • Samuel
  • John
  • Joseph
  • Elizabeth
  • Mary
  • Phebe
  • Mehitable

John Fabyan was a member of the Newcastle, New Hampshire parish, and had a family pew there.[5]

John died March 30, 1756, at age 75.[1] After his death, Reverend Joseph Adams (great uncle of President John Adams), preached a published sermon in memory of John Fabyan, which can be found in the library of Massachusetts Historical Society.[1][6]
