Ruby Nanette Bernadette Theresa Fabares was born on 27 Oct 1920 in San Diego,[1] the daughter of Raul Fabares and Lily McGovern. She was an American theater, movie and television actress who worked under the name Shelley Fabray.[2]
In 1930, Nanette lived with her parents, Raoul B. and Lillian A. Fabares, two siblings and an aunt and uncle at 909 N. Hobart Blvd., Los Angeles. Raoul worked as an engineer on a railway.[3]
Fabray won a Tony Award for best actress in a musical for her performance in “Love Life.” She won three Emmy Awards, as best comedienne and best actress in a supporting role in 1956 on Sid Caesar's "Your Show of Shows" and another in in the same show in 1957.[2]
She married twice, first to David Tebet. They were divorced in 1951. Second, she married Ranald MacDougall. They had one son.[2]
Actress Shelley Fabares is the daughter of her brother James.
Nanette died on 22 February 2018 at Palos Verdes, Los Angeles, California.[2]
