Biography

Cyril 'Jack' Everett was born on 15th December 1922 in Pomona, Queensland, Australia. He was the fifth child and second son of James Everett and Mary Jory. [1]

Cyril Everett is a Military Veteran.
Served in the Second Australian Imperial Force 1941-1946
2/1st Field Regiment

On 3rd December 1941, Jack enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force, his nation's volunteer expeditionary force for the Second World War. He was allocated as a Gunner to the 2/1st Australian Field Regiment. [2] He joined the regiment upon its return from North Africa and Greece. In late 1942, and early 1943, the regiment took part in the defence of Port Moresby during the fighting along the Kokoda Track, before taking part in the Battle of Buna–Gona and the defence of Wau, remaining in New Guinea on garrison duties until August 1943. Withdrawn to Australia, a long period of training followed before the regiment took part in the Aitape–Wewak campaign in 1945. [3] He was demobilised on 5th June 1946. [2] For his war service, he was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-1945 and Australia Service Medal 1939-1945.

Cyril was a farmer

Just a month later, on 20th July 1946, Jack married Iris Koch in Charters Towers, North Queensland. [4] They settled on property near Charters Towers.

After being widowed in November 1976, Jack married his sister-in-law, Dorothy Everett nee Booth, widow of Jack's younger brother Ray, on 20th November 1978 in Charters Towers. After living for some years in Aspley, in Brisbane's northern suburbs, they retired to Charters Towers.

He passed away about 2012 in Charters Towers.
