Lieutenant Colonel the Honourable Ralfe Evans-Freke was born on 23rd July 1897 at Marylebone, Middlesex, England. He was the second son of Algernon Evans-Freke and Mary Toulmin.[1] He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.
Evans-Freke served in the British Army during the First World War, where he was wounded. He gained the rank of Major in the Rifle Brigade and was Mentioned in Despatches.
He married Vera Harrington-Moore, daughter of C. Harrington-Moore, on 4th March 1919 at Marylebone, Middlesex.[2] He and Vera Harrington-Moore were divorced in 1929. Their son, Peter, inherited the title of Baron Carbery upon Ralfe's brother's death in 1970.
He married, secondly, Phyllis Thorpe, daughter of C W Thorpe, in 1929 at Edmonton, London.[3] He and Phyllis Thorpe were divorced in 1940.
He married, thirdly, Dorothy Surrey, daughter of H G Surrey, on 18th January 1941 at Devizes, Wiltshire.[4]
He fought in the Second World War.
Evans-Freke was Military Secretary to the Governor of Burma between 1946 and 1947, followied by seven years with the Staff of the War Office; retiring in 1960. He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1953.
He passed away on 23rd May 1969 at Samford, Suffolk.[5]
