David Derek Stacton was born Arthur Lionel Kingsley Evans in 1923. He was the son of Rolf Evans and Dorothy Green.
Stacton was an influential historical novelist and poet. He published works under the pseudonyms Carse Boyd, Bud Clifton, David Derekson and David West.
Originally addressed as "Lionel", he legally changed his name to David Derek Stacton in 1946, in attempt in order to dissociate himself from his father, who he would become estranged from.
He died in Copenhagen 1968, reportedly from a stroke.
