Biography

Emma was born in Long Gully, and lived all of her life, within about a square kilometre: Married in Havillah Street, Long Gully. First child, George, was born in McClure Street, Long Gully. Young Emma (daughter) died after 6 days in 1888, and is buried at White Hills Cemetery in a Common Grave (10968). Her address is listed as Webster St, Long Gully.

Two years after Woodman's death, Emma's address in 1898 rates roll is listed as Mt. Korong Rd (now Eaglehawk Rd), which is the same description of their address listed in the newspapers for Woodman's death, which was Mt. Korong Rd opposite the British and American Hotel.

Her second husband, Francis Richard Palmer operated the Manchester Arms Hotel for many years. His address at his death in 1925 is listed as this hotel.

Emma died at the Benevolent Asylum in Philpot Street, Long Gully. On cemetery information, Emma's cause of death is listed as Haemorrhage. Francis Snr's is listed as Pulminary Fibrosis. She was buried in the same plot as Francis, in Bendigo Cemetery.
