Pete Escovedo is an American percussionist.
Peter Michael Escovedo was born on 13 July 1935 in Pittsburg, Contra Costa County, California, USA [1] and is the son of Pedro Escovedo. [2]
Pete Escovedo married in 1956 to Juanita Gardere. [3]
With his two brothers, he formed "Escovedo Bros Latin Jazz Sextet", before Carlos Santana hired Pete and Coke Escovedo for his group.
He led the 14–24 piece Latin big band "Azteca".
In the late 1990s he owned a nightclub, Mr. E’s, in Berkeley, California, USA.
In 2021 Peter and his daughter Sheila were presented with the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
