Biography

Birth and Family

Victoria was born November 7, 1885 in Grayson, Kentucky. Her parents are Thomas Jefferson Embry and Annaphisin "Arpy" Jones.

In 1900, Victoria, age 14, her brother, age 11 and her widowed mother, age 33 are living with an aunt, possibly her mother's aunt, age 64. The aunt is listed as a farmer. A farm laborer is also boarding in the home, Wm. Tom Jones, age 23. ^[1]

Marriage and Family

Victoria Embry married Benjamin Fulton Evans on 19 March 1903 in Butler Co., Kentucky.^[2]

The family lived in Texas for a time, farming with some of Benjamin's family. One child, Effie Pearl was born there. Later they were in Moberly, Randolph Co. Missouri, where Victoria's mother was residing with her family. After Victoria's mother died, Benjamin, Victoria and their family moved back to Butler County, Kentucky.^[3]

In 1910, Benjamin and Victoria are living with his parents, Isaiah, age 54, and Rhoda, age 58, and two brothers.

3. Victoria Evans age 24 and Benjamin, age 27, have two children.

In 1920, B. F. and Victoria Evans have moved to their own home in Sulpher Springs, Ohio County, Kentucky. They are renting and farming. ^[5] The five children in the home are:

1. Effie Pearl age 14
2. Bessie, age 4
3. Owen age 16
4. Clifton, age 8
5. Omer, age 1

In 1930, the Evans family are now renting a farm in Bartlett, Ohio, Kentucky. B.F. is 48 and Victoria is 44. ^[6]The children in the household are:

1. Clifton, age 18
2. Bessie age 15
3. Omer E. age 12, son
4. Ferline, age 8, daughter
5. Benjamin F., Jr. age 4

Victoria Embry Evans died January 1, 1903 in Daviess, Kentucky. ^[7] She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Livermore, McLean County, Kentucky, USA.^[8]
