Biography

Cicell Elphingston, daughter of John Elphingston and Mary Eliot was baptised on 30 June 1704 in the parish of Edinburgh, Midlothian.[1]

Cecilia married James Balfour in the parish of Leith South, Midlothian on 29 August 1737.[2]

Cecilia died at the age 74 and was buried in Leith South parish, Midlothian on 11 April 1780.[3]

The couple had three children baptised in the parish of St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh:

  1. James Balfour (bap 6 July 1738)[4]
  2. Mary Cecilia Balfour (bap 30 July 1742)[5]
  3. Lewis Balfour (bap 3 March 1746)[6]
