Any male Elmore who believes they are part this Elmore line, please consider taking the YDNA test - at least Y37 at FamilyTreeDNA.com and JOIN THE ELMORE PROJECT ... this test allows Elmore males to "compare markers" going back 10 to 20 generations ...
This test has debunked the theory that most Elmores descend from two or three Elmores lines in colonial America ... It also was proved that my Christopher Columbus Elmore born circa 1790 has ZERO percent chance of being a descendant of George father of 8 ...
The test also confirms Christopher Columbus Elmore was related to the New Kent County Elmores(James, John Bernard, Peter, and Athanasius) but we only share about 31/37 markers which means our most common recent ancestor is approx 1,000 years ago and not colonial America vs the 1700s.
There appear to be at least 6 Elmore SEPARATE lines and we cannot all descend from the same Peters - Thomas' - James & Williams ;-/
We know this to be true because the FamilyTreeDNA.com site groups testers leveraging our haplogroups and likeness of markers and there were at least 6 UNIQUE Elmore Family lines pre 1800. The more YDNA testers we have join the group, the better we will be able to delineate the lines and sync up to the correct family trees.
