Biography

Phebe, daughter of Stephen R. Ellithrope (b. 19 April 1819- d. 4 January 1902) and Emily C. Smith (b. 15 Apr 1821; d. 13 November 1898), was born in 1852[1] and raised with her five siblings:[2][3]

  • Benjamin Franklin (1841–1875)
  • Marion Royce (1843–1921)
  • William Henry (1848–1931)
  • Antoinette Maryanda (1854–1945)
  • Nathan Smith (1863–1950)

She married John B. Reser in 1869.[4][5]

Together they had children:[6][7][8]

  • Mark L (b. 1872)
  • Mettie A. (b. 1874)
  • Ellen A (b. 1877)

The last of the children had left the nest by 1910, leaving Phebe and John domiciled together alone in Clear Fork, Kansas.[9] After the death of her husband in 1912,[10] Phebe resided with her Aunt Phebe Smith in Elgin, Illinois.[11]

Phebe died in 1922[1] and was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Blaine, Pottawatomie, Kansas.[12]
