Biography

Anne (Ellis) Summers was born on May 6, 1769 in Sugarland Run, Maryland. Her parents were Samuel Ellis and Mary (Hoagland) Ellis. She married Basil Summers on Feb 28, 1788 in Rowan County (became Iredell County later in the year), North Carolina. She died on Apr 27, 1827 in Iredell County, North Carolina.^[1]

Samuel and Mary (Hoagland) Ellis lived in Sugarland Hundred in 1776, which was in present day Montgomery County but adjacent to Sugar Loaf Hundred. Samuel´s 1798 will lists his wife as Mary and his children as Solomon Ellis, James Ellis, Joshua Ellis, Zephaniah Ellis, Samuel Ellis Jr., Cassandra (Ellis) Summers, Anne (Ellis) Summers, Jemima (Ellis) Wilson, and Kesiah Greenfield. Through segregated by gender, the children are otherwise listed in order of birth.^[2]

Samuel Ellis, Sr. and Mary had the following children in addition to Samuel, Jr.: Solomon; James; Joshua; Zephaniah; Mary who married Hugh Tomlinson; Cassandra who m. William Summers, Sr., the father of Amy Summers who married William Howard; Anna who married Bazel Summers, brother to Amy Summers; Jemimah; and Kesiah.^[3]

Cassandra Ann Ellis was born 16 MAY 1769 in Maryland, USA, and died 27 APR 1827 in Iredell, North Carolina, United States. She married Basil SUMMERS, son of William Summers and Mary Wheat. He was born 16 MAY 1769 in Maryland, USA, and died 27 JUN 1824 in Iredell, North Carolina, USA.^[4]
