I was born and raised in Waterville, Maine. We did live for for a few years in Sydney, Maine for a few years, where I attended some of my primary school years in a one room school.
I graduated from Waterville High School in 1960 and joined the Navy that same year. In the Navy, I was trained as an electronics technician, and served aboard Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines as a Navigation systems specialist. I had a 22 year navy career and retired as a Master Chief ET in 1982.
While on the commissioning crew on board the USS Lafayette SSB(N)616, I met and ultimately married, a lovely Scottish girl from Coupar Angus, Scotland. Her name was Georgina Ann Smith. We married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gardner in New London, CT on 28 Mar1964. Gina bore me 4 sons, Richard Scott 6 Feb 1965, James Andrew and Gerald Anthony (Twins) 19 Mar 1967, and Joseph Herbert Jr 27 Mar 1970.
After retiring from the Navy, I went to work at Electric Boat in Groton CT. I spent 18 years, providing technical and computer support in the engineering department there. I retired from EB in 2004.
On August 2nd 2016, my soulmate of 52 years passed away. Since then, I have relocated to Pensacola Fl to live with my youngest son, Joe.

Unfortunately, I think the information shown there about the John Ellis Sr. (abt.1569-aft.1629) who married Blandina Masterson is not very reliable because it seems to be missing available information about that family, as supported by contemporary sources. For example, the Ellis y-DNA page does not acknowledge the fact that this family had several other children between 1595 and 1608 based on the Kent parish records. Two of these children were named John, one born 1598 and the other in 1603. Based on what we know about John Ellis (abt.1620-abt.1677) of Sandwich, Plymouth, he was born closer to 1620 and could not have been a child of Blandina Masterson and her husband in Kent, England.
Based on what we know about Blandina, she was likely born before 1580 and would have been almost 50 years old by 1620.
Based on the above problems, John and Blandina Ellis of Kent, England are not matching parents for the John Ellis who lived in Sandwich, Plymouth about 1640. Unfortunately, the Ellis Y-DNA website does not appear to address these problems.
I hope this information helps!
