Biography
Cliff was born in Hull in June 1920, the last child of William John Ellis.[1]
July 1938 • Bovington Camp, Dorset, England - enlised in Royal Tank Corps (added 1 year to age) and trained at Bovington before embarking for Egypt
21 Jan 1939 • Port Said, Egypt - arrived en route for Helmich Camp, Cairo. Remained with Desert Rats through war in North Africa until leave in 1944
22 Jan 1944 • Hull - marriage of Harry Clifford Ellis, 23, trooper, Royal Tank Regiment, son of William John Ellis, deceased, and Elsie Allison Guymer, 26, WAAF, daughter of Charles Guymer, deceased (witnessed by Bill Mays and Elsie's sister Sally Armstrong [2]
One week later, embarked for France, Holland, Germany until demobbed in 1946
29 Dec 1991 • died in Hull [3]
