Eller, Jacob- Private March 4, 1862. Killed at Atlanta, Ga. July 22, 1864.[1]
He was a member of Georgia Volunteer Infantry, CSA. His company was known as the Hiawassee Rangers.
Jacob was killed during the Battle of Atlanta and first was buried in a mass confederate grave where the Carter Center now stands in Atlanta. These graves were later moved to the Marietta National Cemetery and are 'Unknown Confederate Soldiers.'
His family was never notified of his death. When he did not return when the war was over they assumed he was killed. His death date was later recorded.
