Biography

Fannie (Elijah) Matthews is a part of US Black heritage.

Fannie was born in 1883 in Florida.

She married Reuben Hearde Matthews Jr.

By 1910, Rueben, Fannie, their children, and two of Reuben's brothers were living in Los Angeles Assembly District 72, Los Angeles, California. Reuben was in the house painting business, while his two brothers worked as elevator operators.^[1] The household included:

By 1920, her brothers-in-law had moved out. The household included:^[2]

By 1940, only two of their children, Ella. a bookkeeper, and Miriam, a librarian, were still at home with Rueben and Fannie. Reuben was a painting contractor.^[3]

Fannie passed away in 1957. Burial was in the Angelus Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.^[4]
