Pope St Leo IX Egisheim is Notable.

Bruno of Egisheim-Dagsburg was born on 21 June 1002 at Eguisheim, Alsace, Duchy of Swabia, Holy Roman Empire [1]

His parents were Hugh (first cousin to Emperor Conrad)[2] and Heilewide of Dagsburg.[2][3]

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, Bruno's parents died while he was Bishop. The reference guide also notes that he had two brothers.[2]

He was Bishop of Toul for over 20 years between 1026-1049. [4]

He was elected Pope on 12 Feb 1049 taking the name Leo IX, heading the medieval Latin church (1049–54) after the death of Gregory VI.[1][5] Platina[6] states:

Leo the Ninth, a German, AD 1048, was made Pope after this manner. The Romans having sent ambassadors to the Emperor to entreat him to send them a good Pope, he immediately nominated to them Baunon, Bishop of Toul, a good man and of great integrity; who, taking his journey towards Rome in his pontifical habit, was met by the Abbot of Clugny and Hildebrand, a monk, born at Soana, who persuaded him to lay by his pontifical habit, and to enter Rome, for that Henry had no power from God to create a Pope, but it belonged of right to the clergy and people of Rome. With these words Leo was so moved... that he laid by his habit and entered Rome as a private man, accusing himself that he had chosen to obey the Emperor rather than God. ... Thus Baunon, having got the papacy, and having changed his name to Leo IX, he immediately created Hildebrand a cardinal-deacon, and gave him the government of St Paul's Church.

He died on 19 Apr 1054 Rome, Papal States, Holy Roman Empire.[1] His pontificate lasted five years, two months, and six days.[6]

Are you happy for me to format the biography to be more readable but putting into sentences rather than raw facts without changing any of the details? I'm currently updating all profiles for Popes.
