Catherine Edkins (married names Oliver, then Barrett) was born around 1830 in Shropshire, England, the daughter of Louisa (De Winton) Edkins and Thomas Edkins.

She married Alexander Calder Oliver in 1853 in Victoria, Australia.^[1] Their children were:
