Mary was born about 1725.
Mary Edis was baptised 10 April 1726 at St Botolph, Stoke Albany [1]
Research Notes
No evidence has been found to justify the alternative surnames originally ascribed tot his profile (Edey and Edy) and no evidence has been found to support her marriage to John Pain.
A John Payne had a son baptised Jon, 1 May 1747, in Medbourne [2], his wife at that time was named as being Mary. This may well be Mary Edy but no marriage record has been found to support that surname.
There then follows several other children including Benjamin, all of whom had their mother named as Elizabeth.
No certain marriage has been found to name Elizabeth. The family search website entry for John Payne names Elizabeth as being Elizabeth Dunkley. That marriage took place in Saddington in 1739 and the John Pain named on that is said to have been "of Foxton". Foxton lies some ten miles from Medbourne so is possible, but unlikely as parishes were very careful about who could claim residency because the the Poor Laws of that time. This marriage date is also inconsistent with the baptism of Jon in 1747.
Either there were two John Pain/Paynes in Medbourne at the time or first wife Mary had died circa 1748 and John had then remarried to Elizabeth.
