Fred was born on March 3, 1880 in Douglas Township, Clay, Iowa.^[1][2][3][4] Fred was the son of John Levi Eckley and Mary E Dubois.^{[1][2][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]}

On November 23, 1908, Fred married Bertha Belle Carlson in Langdon, Iowa.^{[9][10][11][12][13]} Bertha died in 1927.^[14][15]

Fred volunteered at Watchtower's Kingdom Farm at Lansing, New York.^[16][4][17]

Fred died in June, 1976 in Wallkill, New York.^[18]
