Biography

Susannah was born in Lancaster, PH. She was married in 1813. Her father was a soldier in the revolutionary war and fought at the battle of Valley Forge, but did not see heavy service. Her mother, Jennie Wilks, was from England, and her mother's maiden name was Stump. Susannah had 17 children.^[1]

She was recorded in the 1850 census in Washington Township, Marion, Indiana as Susannah Whiteminger(sic), 46 years old, born in Pennsylvania. Her family His family included husband Henry, 57, and children Samuel, 23; James, 20; Daniel, 19; Henry, 19; Franklin, 16; Susannah, 14, and Albert, 12.^[2]

She is recorded in the 1860 census in Washington Township, Marion Indiana as Susannah Whitinger, 65 years old, born in Pennsylvania, living with son Albert, 21, and daughter Mary, 17.^[3]

She is recorded in the 1880 census in Clay Township, Hamilton, Indiana as Susana Whitinger, 86 years old, born in Virginia to parents from Ireland and Ohio, living as a boarder with her daughter Eliza J Cruse, 62, and her son-in-law, Henry Cruse, 68, as well as their youngest children and one of their grandchildren.^[4]

She passed away 13 Apr 1886.^[5]
