This profile has both of his parents marked as "confirmed with DNA", but the paternal DNA confirmation citation is erroneous. It says that he matches his grandfather, but he MRCA for the paternal citation is incorrect, since his most recent common paternal ancestor would be his grandfather.

Also, there is no maternal DNA source citation to support marking his mother as "confirmed with DNA".

Please change Frank's parents' relationship status indicators to "confident" until proper DNA source citations have been added to document the "confirmed with DNA" parental relationships.

WikiTree's integrated DNA Confirmation Citation Maker app is highly recommended for creating and/or validating DNA confirmation source citations. It produces great citations, is easy to use (copy/paste) and there are how-to videos linked from the app's page.

Thank you,

Hello Mr. Kingman! I am indeed confirmed to be from mother due to the fact that I found an uncle/relative, who has now passed on, who shared the same communities that I share and that my mother's mother came from. My maternal grandmother was born in Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, Ireland and in my ancestry results, you can see that is clearly where the majority of my DNA descends from. I also matched with this unknown relative who also happened to share the very same communities in Ireland despite having a different mother than my own mother. I can show you and confirm this, which would prove my descent from my mother. Even Ancestry calls him my maternal uncle and there is no arguing with DNA.

Hi Frank

I just wanted to give you a heads up that I disconnected the parents you added to Anthony Dike. You may not have noticed, but Anthony Dike is a Project-Managed Profile. Just a reminder that adding or removing parents is a major change and communication first before editing is appreciated. Also, with pre-1700 profiles a reliable source is needed. For the PGM Project we generally follow the research of RC Anderson in the Great Migration Series, which indicates his origins are unknown (as well as his parents). Looking over the research you've added to the father's profile, I still don't see anything other than a last name that would connect John Dike to the immigrant. If you have any additional evidence to support a relationship, please comment on the profile. Thank you!

Hi M Cole! I'm glad you both want to verify the accuracy of my connection to these men which I am almost 99.9% positive that I descend from by through extensive, thorough historical and genealogical research from many documents such as these ones here:

I also have done an Autosomal DNA test through Ancestry.com which has allowed me to to connect myself to Captain. Anthony Dike Sr. with verifiable government records and censuses.

Not only have I just taken an Autosomal DNA test but I have also bought the Y-67 Y-DNA test which was tested the first 67 markers of my Y-Chromosome signature. I have 2 matches, one by the name of "David Dike" and the other by the name of "Mr. Ernest Reece Dike Jr." We all matched on April 10, 2016. "David Dike" lists his earliest known paternal ancestor as "Anthony Dike/Dix of Plymouth MA, 1623" while "Mr. Ernest Reece Dike Jr." lists his earliest known paternal ancestor as "William del Dykes, I" . These men have only had their first 37 markers tested unlike my tested 67 markers, but they are both the top matches in the Y-37 section and they both have the R-M269 subclade of R1B. I also have this Subclade but due to getting my 67 markers tested, I know I am part of an even deeper Subclade which is R-M222. This Subclade peaks in Northern Irish men and the region the Dykes/Dikes/Del Dikes come from from is only a boats travel away from Northern Ireland (Ulster to Cumbria.) Not to mention the Del Dikes were one of the few pre-Norman Anglo-Saxon dynasties that were allowed to stay as nobility in the newly controlled Norman England.

https://archive.org/details/visitationofseat185402burk/page/36/mode/2up?q=del Check page 36 to see an extensive history of the Del Dikes dynasty.

And just to prove what I am saying is not a fabrication, here is a screenshot of the gentlemen i have matching Y-Chromosome signatures with, meaning scientifically we are without a doubt descended from the same man. Add all the records and genealogy and it is pretty easy for me to connect the Dots.

Perhaps you can copy this information into a comment on the profile. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Dike-26

I was doing the PGM team tracking of changes today and discovered this comment, but it would have been more visible on the page itself.

I think I will indeed do that and so where it goes from there. Again, thank you for the help!

Welcome to WikiTree and DNA.

My name is John Kingman. I am a Coordinator with the WikiTree DNA Project.

DNA test matches with your relatives can strengthen your genealogy on WikiTree. You use the test match information from a DNA testing company to compare the amount of DNA shared between two or more DNA tests.

Check out the Help pages for using DNA on WikiTree. The DNA Help category page shows all the DNA help that is available. Also the DNA Features page can show you various ways that DNA tests can work with your genealogy. For a detailed guide to connecting DNA test results to WikiTree profiles via GEDmatch, look here.

You may see some relatives show up in your list of "DNA Connections" on your profile if they have added a DNA test to their profile. These DNA Connections are possible DNA test matches, they are not sufficient for marking parental relationships as "confirmed with DNA" without providing a DNA Confirmation source citation providing details of an acceptable DNA match. You may find that you have acceptable matches with some of them. There is more information about DNA Connections on the DNA Test Connections page.

Follow the guidance at the Confirmed with DNA help page for documenting that your genealogy sources are confirmed by DNA test matches. Also, I strongly recommend using the DNA Confirmation Citation Maker WikiTree app for creating and/or validating your DNA confirmation source citations. It produces great citations, is easy to use (copy/paste) and there are how-to videos linked from that page.

Note that a profile should not be marked "confirmed with DNA" without source citations for both genealogy and the relevant DNA test matches.

If you have questions or need assistance, feel free to ask on the G2G Forum using the Tag "DNA" and/or "DNA_Confirmation". There are lots of folks willing to help.

Happy WikiTree-ing!
