An older source, The Durie Genealogy, 1985, states that Jean Durie was baptized at the Walloon Church, Utrecht, Holland on 12 Nov 1654 and that his parents were Pierre Durier and Marguerite Charoy.

A newer source, "European Origin of Marie Sohier, Matriarch of the Demarest Family", NYGBR 141, states that Jean du Rie was baptized on 09 Dec 1663 at the Walloon Church in IJzendijke, West Zeeuws Vlaanderen, the Netherlands and that his parents were Jean du Rie and Marie le Grand.
