Biography
Joseph Durand was born 1 July 1854 in Saint-Jean-Chrysostôme and was baptized two days later. His parents were Jacques Durand and Euphrosine Goyette, and his godparents were Amable Denaud and Théotiste Lefebvre.[1][2][3] He married Mary Allard on 31 December 1874 in Champlain, Clinton, New York, USA. The witnesses were Siméon Durand and Bazile Allard.[4]

In mid 1800s Durant (changed from Durand) Family lived in Champlain NY later moving to Clinton County Mass and moved circa 1890s to Hudson County, Arlington, NJ. Joseph Durant married to Marie (Mary) Allard 12/31/1874 Clinton County and, having 9 children Eva, Francis, John, Samuel, Ethel, Joseph, William (the author Will Durant)and Leanore Durant who married Maurice Joseph Levesen and having 6 children.
