Biography
Andrew Duncan was born in Scotland.
Andrew Duncan, son of John Duncan (1791-1874) and Mary Duncan (1790-1872), was born on 29 April 1831 in Ferry Port on Craig, Fife, Scotland and was baptised there on 17 June 1831.[1][2]
On 6 Jun 1841 Andrew was living in High St, Ferry Port on Craig with his sisters Jean, Mary and Hellen, brother Hay, and niece Mary Ann Bruce. [3]
On 26 March 1861 Andrew was awarded his Only Mate certificate.[4]
Andrew Duncan and Janet (Cuthbertson) Duncan (1832-1911) were married on 25 July 1862 at Ferry Port on Craig, Fifeshire, Scotland.[5][6]

Janet Cuthbertson was the widow of David Gray, and had had a son also named David Gray with him in 1856.[7]
In 1871, Andrew was a Seaman living at Isla Place, Ferry Port on Craig with his wife Janet, her son David Gray, and Andrew and Janet’s four children.[8]
