Biography

Jane Dumbleton was born at Weston on the Green in Oxfordshire, England, probably in 1838. She was baptised at Weston on the Green parish church on 17 June 1838, as the daughter of William and Ann Dumbleton, of Weston, Her father was described as a labourer. ^{[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]}

1841 census: Jane Dumbleton was living at Weston on the Green with William and Ann Dumbleton (presumably her parents) and their other children. Her age was given as 3, implying a birth date in 1837 or 1838. ^[2]

Her mother died in December 1842 and her father remarried in 1843.

1851 census: Jane Dumbleton was living at Weston on the Green with her aunt and uncle, Harriet and William Jones, their daughter Sarah, and her grandmother (Harriet's mother), Sarah Dumbleton. Jane's age was given as 12, implying a birth date in 1838 or 1839. Her birthplace was given as Weston, Oxfordshire. ^[3]

William Constable (bachelor, aged 24), a labourer, of Weston on the Green, son of Thomas Constable, labourer; and Jane Dumbleton (spinster, aged 21), of Weston on the Green, daughter of William Dumbleton, labourer; were married at Weston on the Green parish church on 26 August 1859. ^{[4] [6]}
