Melvin was born in 1914. He is the son of William James Dowswell and Ada Lillia Colton.[1]
He married Mary Margaret Grawbarger in 1937.[2]
He enlisted in the Canadian Army on September 26, 1939. He saw service with the Winnipeg Grenadiers in Manitoba, in Jamaica with Y Force, and in Hong Kong with C Force.
For his service he was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal 1939-1945, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp
He passed away about 1941.
