Hi Roger, is this Jean Douillard (should be Drouillard to match his son's name???) possibly the same as Jean Drouillard dit Argentcour b. 1640 or 1643, d. 1737 who is also in some trees shown as the father of Rene Drouillard dit LaPrise (Douillard-1926) ??

Many thanks. Helping out some Douillard friends with their family tree.

I believe the Jean Drouillard you are looking for is Drouillard-776. His son is shown as Simon Drouillard dit Argentcourt and the date of birth is a closer match.

Yes, my friends are descended from the Jean Douillard of this profile but were trying to show a connection to George Drouillard, the well known explorer who accompanied Lewis and Clark and who is descended from Drouillard-776. Is there any way to see if Drouillard-776 and Douillard-22 of this profile shared the same grandfather though not the same father?

Sorry, I wrote that wrong above. Meant to ask if it could be shown that Drouillard-898 and Drouillard-1926 shared the same grandfather though not the same father.

Well you are asking if the two Jean Douillard -fathers of René and Simon were brothers/half-brothers, but as the parentage of neither Jean is known, it can't be said that they were or weren't related. They could as easily be cousins of an unknown degree, or simply unrelated. As far as I know no relationship between the two families has been established. In the course of researching the father of René, I found the name was common in the region and the spellings Drouillard and Douillard appear to have been used indiscriminately. More research is needed and would be very welcome.
