Christian was the second of the seven daughters of William Douglas, later 6th Earl of Morton, and his wife, Agnes Leslie. They were all considered very beautiful and were known as the Seven Pearls of Lochleven,[1] Her birth date is unknown but given her parents were married in or before 1365, and at least her eldest brother Robert, must have been born in the mid 1360s, then a birth date of about 1368 seems reasonable, though it is unlikely she was born any later than that given her son's birth in 1583 (see below).
First marriage and children
A contract was signed on 17 February 1575/6 for Christian to marry Laurence Oliphant, Master of Oliphant, the son and heir of Laurence Oliphant, 4th Lord Oliphant, and Margaret Hay.[2],
Death
Christian Douglas was stated as died in March 1584, but her 1st husband 'possibly' died at that time. .[3]
In July 1597 the Lord Home was said to be "married to the [Douglas] Earl of Morton's daughter".[4] This may indicate she is still living at this point.
