I have done quite a bit of work on this Margaret Douglas and I have her marrying Thomas Johnson/Johnston the son of John. (If she is the Margaret Douglas - daughter of William Douglas the first Earl and his mistress Margaret Stewart, Countess of Angus). They kept the name of Douglas and Margaret was the first Laird or Lord of Bonjedward. Their son John Douglas was the second Laird or Lord. In a Latin charter it shows that her sister Isabel or Isabella Douglas handed the unentailed lands on Bonjedward to 'her dear sister' Margaret/Margarete Douglas the wife of Thomas Johnson.
Thank You Sally.
Margaret/Margarette Douglas - 1st Laird of Bonjedward c1376 (Bonjedburgh) [included the lands of Timpendean] and Thomas Johnson/Johnsone c1366
They had a son, John Johnson, who took the name Douglas, and became John Douglas. He had two sons, George Douglas, and William Douglas. He probably died circa 2nd July 1439, as George Douglas was retoured to his father on that day.

1) Mariot Herries-2 Bruce, her listed daughter, was born 10 years after her mothr's death!?
2) Another odd thing is the birth of son John Johnson 14 years after her first daughter Janet Harries-1 was born. Then a resumtion of Harries children??? Could it be the birthdates of John Johnson-61758 and John Herries-10 are either both, or one of them wrong?
And could Mariot be the daughter of the unnamed mistress which bore Mary Herries-14 and Marian Herries-13?
