Hi Ronna,

I think we maybe need to add a note to his profile to prevent mistakes again eeh ? Now.. we have this:

Still trying to sort them all out, so if you like or have some primary sources please just add them to the profiles all help is of course very much appreciated  :)

I tried to add you to the trusted lists for all of them now, so don't know if it worked ? If not just say so and I'll try adding you again :)

Think I am descended from Jans first wife. Samuel Dorland I am not sure why my dna doesn't show up as some show up on my ancestry tree with this I also have this person show up Schenck Dorland on my ancestry dna.

Weird. I found a source on ancestry and it is similar except there is also a Magadalena Van der Straaten who was supposed to be his first wife. My Samuel is descended from her.

Hi Ronna,

I can totally understand the confusion and this lineage is really going way back making it even harder, many sources have different/conflicting info + all these repeated names and patronymics...so it's really confusing, although I'm glad they did have patronymics, because they now make it a bit easier to at least know for sure what was the first name of their father ;)

Greets and if you have some sources please just add them to the profiles, every bit of info can help here and thanks for posting , :) Bea

Thanks for posting t hat I was getting quite confused and I checked the Dorland book and it looks like there is a bit of confusion as to who is whom? I think the dates could be wrong as well and we don't know for sure but I think I am descended from Jan Gerrits Dorland who married Anna (Remsen as the spelling of names varies.

Hi,

It looks like there were two Jan Gerrits Dorlands one born abt 1640 and son of Gerrit Dorland b 1616 . This Jan was married first to an Unknown wife (possibly named Geertje) and after her death remarrying Annetje Remsen. probably two Children from the first marriage and children from Annetje Rems.

And there is a Jan Gerrits Dorland who was married to Magdalena van der Straten and later to (uncertain though) Anna Kouwenhoven ? They also had children.

But we had and probably now still have them all mixed up, so trying to sort this family out and search for and add some sources .
