John G. Doerr, 64, of 3540 Thomas avenue, life-time resident of Alton, died this morning at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, where he had been a patient 10 days. He had been in failing health for four years.
Doerr was a former employe of the Beall Tool Co., East Alton. He was a member of the Evangelical church. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. John Doerr of Upper Alton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; four sons, John, William, Albert and Mary (sic), all of Alton; three brothers, Albert and Charles of Alton , and Walter of Los Angeles, Calif.
The body is at the Streeper funeral home.[16]

Funeral services for John G. Doerr, 64, who died Nov. 2, at Barnes hospital, St. Louis, where he had been a patient four days were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at Evangelical church. The Rev. O.W. Heggemeier conducted the service and Miss Emma Joesting and Miss Mildred Stevenson sang two songs. Pallbearers were Herman Penning, George Yost, Henry Vahle, Elmer Lewis, William Vahle and Kenneth Curry, all brothers-in-law of the deceased.
In addition to the wife, Mrs. Mary Vahle Doerr, whom he married in 1904, there are four sons
surviving, John Doerr and Albert Doerr of 3540 Thomas, William Doerr, 800 Doerr, and Henry Doerr, 808 Doerr[17]

Wednesday evening at 5 pm at the home of the bride's parents near Upper Alton, Mr. John George Doerr Jr., a well known Woodriver gardner and Miss Mary Katherine Vahle were united in marriage in the presence of a large number of relatives, friends, and neighbors, Rev. Theodore Oberhellmann performing the ceremony.
The attendants were Mr. Charles Doerr, brother of the groom, and Miss Henrietta Vahle, sister of the bride. After the ceremony a wedding banquet was served, dancing on a large platform was begun and will be continued as late as the dancers wish to stay. Another supper will be served at midnight.[20]
