Biography
Private James Dodsworth Died of Wounds during World War I.
James Smith Dodsworth was born in 1897, the son of James Dodsworth and Alice Smith. James's birth was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1897 in the Sculcoates district.[1]
In the 1901 census James (age 4) was listed with parents James and Alice Dodsworth, and siblings Dorothy (2) and Ernest (0), living in Leeds St Mary, Leeds, Yorkshire, England.[2]
In the 1911 census James (age 14, scholar), son of James M & Alice Dodsworth in Hull, Yorkshire East Riding, with sibkings Frances (18), Dorothy (12) and Ernest (7).[3]
James's marriage to Gertrude A Wilson was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1916 in the Sculcoates district.[4]
Private James Dodsworth served in the British Army in World War I Service started: Unit(s): East Yorkshire Regiment Service ended: 25 June 1916
Pte. James Smith Dodsworth, East Yorkshire Regiment, 4th Battalion, died on June 25, 1916 at St. Lukes War Hospital of wounds sustained in battle in the Western European Theartre. [5][6]
James was buried in Western Cemetery, Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire. [7][8]
