Dr. James Albert Dodge was born on 17 Mar 1848 in Salem, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. He was a son of William Manning Dodge and [[Woodward-2481|Margaret Woodward]. James Albert Dodge married Elizabeth King Goss on 24 Aug 1882 in Salem, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. He passed away on 16 Aug 1935 in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, California, USA.^[1]

James was buried at Santa Barbara Cemetery, Santa Barbara, California. His memorial has photos and links to those of family members.^[2]

He graduated from High school at Salem at 15, Entered Harvard college at 17 and graduated in 1968 with the rank of 11 in a class of about 100.He spent3 years in Germany and England the study of chemistry and other specialties, in the course of which received the Degree of Ph.D. at the University Heidelberg, Germany.
