Biography

Harriet was born in 1819. She was the daughter of John Dickens and Elizabeth Barrow. Harriet was baptised on 3 September 1819 and had been born some 10 years after her parents were married, when her father was 33, and her mother was 29.

Her father John worked as a clerk for the Navy Pay Office, and prior to her birth had been posted to Kent's Chatham Dockyard. Harriet was born in Chatham, Kent.

She passed away as a young child, but evidence of a death date has not been located. There is a burial record for 9 year old Harriet Ellen Dickens in 1827. It was in 1827 that the family was evicted for non-payment of rates in Somers Town. [1] [2]
