Lewis Dials is a part of US Black heritage.

Lewis Cecil Dials, born on March 15, 1874, in the serene town of Caney, Nevada County, Arkansas, led a life filled with hard work and love. His parents, Lewis C. Dials and Nancy (Young) Dials, raised him with care, instilling in him values that would shape his character. In 1897, he married the love of his life, Nellie Vance French, and together they embarked on a journey of companionship and devotion.

Throughout his life, Lewis worked diligently to provide for his family. In the early 1900s, he resided in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas, where he earned a living as a teamster, driving horse-drawn wagons through the scenic countryside.

In search of new opportunities, Lewis and his family eventually moved to the bustling city of Los Angeles, California. In 1920, they settled on East Santa Barbara Avenue, where Lewis owned his home, proudly bearing a mortgage. During this time, he worked as a porter for a prominent railway company, exemplifying his strong work ethic and dedication.

Through the years, Lewis continued to reside on Santa Barbara Avenue, where he and Nellie cherished their home and built a life together. As the decades passed, he maintained his role as a porter for the steam railroad, taking pride in his profession and the service he provided.

In the 1940s and 1950s, Lewis continued to reside in Los Angeles, relocating to West 24th Street. His unwavering commitment to his family and community was evident in every aspect of his life.

On September 19, 1961, Lewis Cecil Dials peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication. He was laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Los Angeles, where he rests among the memories of those who cherished him.

Lewis's life was a testament to the beauty of simplicity and the power of steadfastness. His strong presence, caring nature, and tireless efforts to provide for his family will forever be remembered with fondness and gratitude. As a devoted husband, hardworking teamster, and esteemed member of the Los Angeles community, Lewis Cecil Dials left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him, a legacy that continues to inspire and uplift.
