Biography

Pope Leo VIII di Roma is Notable.

Leo was born in Rome^[1] in the region around the Clivus Argentarius, to a noble family. His father was John who held the office of protonotary or superintendent of the Roman public school for scribes in the papal court.^[2]

According to Platina^[3]: Leo, a Roman, [was] a keeper of the archives in the Lateran.

He was elected pope on 4 December 963 and consecrated on 6 December 963.^[1]

Platina^[4] states:

Leo the Eighth, ...was created Pope by the clergy and people of Rome.

His pontificate ended with his death on 1 March 965.^[1][2]
