Maritjen "Mary " Dey was born on November 28, 1736, in Hackensack, New Jersey to Jacob Dey and Elizabeth Banta. She was baptized on 28 Nov 1736 in the Dutch Reformed Church of Hackensack, Bergen, New Jersey Colony. She lost her father when she was only 6 years old. She had two sisters.
