Biography

Simon Dewitt is a part of US Black heritage.

Simon was born in 1826. He was the son of Cornelius Dewitt.^{[citation needed]}

Simon fought with the Union Army during the Civil War with the Connecticut 29th Regiment, U.S. Colored Troops.

He passed away in 1898 in Connecticut and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in North Canaan, Connecticut.
